Tatsunically Obscure Reference [Tatsunoko vs Capcom Joe the Condor X Haunting Ground Ending]

Hey, remember when we talked about Haunting Ground?

Well, Joe the Condor's arcade ending in Tatsunoko vs. Capcom totally has him intervening in the events of Haunting Ground. Wild, huh? Doesn't get much more obscure than that.

Leakage [TVC Roster]

Shoryuken did some digging and done dug up da dirt. The complete roster of the North American version of Tatsunoko Vs. Capcom was deciphered from some sloppy html. Most notable, as far as Killa Blog is concerned, is Mega Man Zero. He did pop up in SVC Chaos, though I've never really been an SNK guy, and didn't have much interest in that installment.

I have to say I'm pretty un-fucking-familiar with most Tatsunoko IPs. I know Casshern through exposure via Big Sis Prinny, though the film didn't really do it for me. However, on the Capcom side, I am pretty familiar with Ryu, Chun Li, Alex, Batsu, Morrigan, Viewtiful Joe, Mega Man Volnutt, and Roll.

I may have to consider picking this one up, though I have till January to debate it. It's hard to compare any Wii fighter to Smash Brawl, but, then again, Capcom crossover games only come around so often...

Watch out, Palin! He's gunning for Mavericks.

The Habanero Dash, et al

Very excited for SFIV, as one could expect. I've been following lots of tidbits of released info, and came across this movelist over on Capcom Unity. Disappointed not to see Gouki's arsenal, as I'd really like to see if the Hyakki Shū (aka Hundred Demons Attack) was retained, and with what options.

Anyways, was looking at the newcomers' lists, and was shocked, shocked! I say, to see the names given to luchador El Fuerte's techniques: Habanero Dash, Fajita Buster, Gordita Sabat, Quesdilla Bomb, Chile Mexicano. I mean, wow. I'm racist, but this is some blatant shit. (Yes, admittedly, Habenero Dash is a really cool name for a move. Then again, I already referenced Hundred Demons Attack, so it's a sliding scale.)

Perhaps the Japanese don't really have a firm grasp on the Mexican culture beyond its cuisine, and this would formulaically lead to a charcter described as a Mexican gourmand/wrestler travelling the world in search of recipes/fights. It's just a bit cliché. Couldn't they have taken lucha libre seriously and named the attacks after famous luchadors, per chance? Or, better yet, call him El Coyote and have him fighting to defend his human trafficking operation! That would have been cool.

I suppose it could be worse. Zangief is, after all, a rabidly Communist, vodka-swilling bear.

Bizz-Nass 101

Capcom's stock opened today at ¥1,700, a little less than half of it's 52 week high. I feel Capcom should have a huge quarter with the releases of SFIV and RE5, so let's just keep an eye on them shall we? Let's see if my knowledge of modern gaming would hypothetically pay off...

Sorry I keep bombarding you with e-mails today. Anyway, I was looking at Kotaku's annual gift guide, nothing much good on it this year, but it mentioned Udon's The Art of Capcom, which I gave you last year (I think). Check it out, it looks like it has appreciated in value. I just thought that was funny.
